	<title>Good Carbs</title>
	<description>
Counting carbs is one thing, but getting the right amount of good carbs is a horse of a totally different color. Since the carbs craze started, too many people were cutting out the carbs and not really knowing why they were doing it. But, now we have a lot more information to work with and people are a lot more interested in how to eat better for the long haul and not just how to lose a few pounds in the fastest possible way. We were satisfied to blindly follow all that the promoters of the various low carb diets had to tell us, but now we are looking for the real story. And, we demand better results than most of us got with the old low carb diets.

Good carbs are your friends
The most important thing that has been learned about all of these diets is that carbs are really no the enemy, but bad carbs are. It is the good carbs that we need to be concentrating on when we do consume carbs. Unlike the bad ones, good carbs are essential to the proper functioning of our bodies. The bad ones are really just empty calories and, unfortunately, they are the ones that most of us are eating, because they are most predominant in fast and pre-prepared foods which many of us consume way too much of. It was never the carbs themselves that were making us fat, it was instead a combination of too many bad carbs and not nearly enough exercise. This is what has helped us to become the most obese nation in the world.

Now that we know that carbs are not ruining us, we need to eat only the good carbs that are truly beneficial to us. We can find our good carbs in many vegetables that we already love to eat and many that are hearty enough to be a meal. Also whole grains are chock full of the good carbs and should be eaten in lieu of the more processed products that are often full of the bad carbs. A good rule of thumb, as strange as it may sound, is to try and get the majority of your grocery items from the stacks along the outer walls. The products that are sold on the periphery of the store are generally the closest to how Mother Nature intended and the best for you.

Now that you have a better idea of what the "bad carbs" really do, it will be easier for you to incorporate what you have learned into your daily diet.
