Low Carbohydrate Diet
The low carbohydrate diet has a new face, and this time you will be met with more success! Look for a low carbohydrate diet that wants you to keep the weight off, not just lose it for a few weeks.
Low Carbohydrate Diet
The low carbohydrate diet has changed and is changing. Over the course of the past few years we have seen far more failures with low carbohydrate diets then we have seen successes. Although a great many people jumped on the low carb bandwagon, not very people were able to actually stay on. More people ended up gaining all of the weight back plus a few extra pounds for good measure. And now a lot of the steam has gone out of the whole low carbohydrate diet uproar. BUt, now that the diet itself has been re-examined, it is also changing for the better.
The new and improved low carb diet
For starters, none of us should have fallen for the gimmick to begin with. Restrict your carbs so much so that you eventually start to burn some fat (at first) , which results in the shedding of a few pounds in a short time? Hello, what did we think would happen when we went back to our original way of eating? Well, we gained it all back, of course we did. A low carb diet that goes in stages and then cuts off does nothing for your long term weight loss goals, and even less for your overall health. You need a low carbohydrate diet that is a lifestyle change. One that teaches us how to eat the right things and stick to it, for good.
There also need to be more of an emphasis on the amount of exercise that we are getting and that we should be getting. One drawback of the low carbohydrate diets is that they did not do enough to get people out there are moving! Instead, they catered to our tendencies towards laziness. The diets became so popular because people finally thought that they had the easy button and that they could continue to eat things like bacon and did not have to exercise. The best thing we can do for our bodies is to take a different approach to dieting. If you are a bit overweight, then it is most likely your lifestyle that is keeping all of the weight on and that means that you have to change the way that you live as well as the foods that you eat. Now when you research a low carbohydrate diet, make sure that you choose one that takes your overall health into account and that is not in such a hurry to take a few pounds off, but that is more concerned with you keeping the weight off.
