Low Carb Foods

Low carb diets have a lot of side effects, including reduced sales in certain food industries. To remedy this, most food manufacturers are coming up with low carb of their most popular foods.

Are Low Carb Foods Really Low Carb?
During the induction phase of a low carb diet, it's really hard to find low carb foods that you won't get bored with. Even in the next phase when you're allowed to have 60 grams of carbs a day, you have to read labels and be careful. Sometimes people who aren't on a low carb diet make the mistake of buying foods that are labeled as low carb foods. But no matter what kind of diet you're on, calories count, and most low carb foods aren't necessarily low in calories.

Think back when low fat diets were all the rage. A lot of food manufacturers came out with low fat versions of their foods. They're still big sellers today. But to make up for the lack of flavor, they usually bump up the sugar content. The calorie content, however, either remains the same or goes up. The same is true for the low carb foods of today. To compensate for the lack of flavor, they might add other things. Again, the calorie content either stays the same or goes up, so if you're cutting calories to lose weight, low carb foods might not help you. The best thing you can do is read the labels.

What's so funny about the low carb food that's out there is that there are foods like low carb bread, low carb beers and even low carb chocolates! Most low carb foods don't taste bad either. There are even low carb tortillas that taste like a slice of full-carb white bread! Yummo! The best advice we can give you about low carb food is to read the labels and count, count count!
