Carb Counting
With all of the carb counting that goes on these days, it is obvious that America has an obsession with weight. Even children have taken up the newest carb counting diets with some unhealthy results.
Carb Counting-A Cautionary Tale For Children
As with anything in American culture, the newest craze with carb counting has spilled over into the habits of our children. Studies have been conducted on children as young as 8 and 9 years old who have an obsession with carb counting . This has led to some very unhealthy complications involving unnatural growth patterns and irregularities in the natural functions of the human body.
Children are especially vulnerable to chemical changes as they go through childhood into young adulthood. To make things worse, childhood is when our muscles and internal organs fully mature. Without the proper carb nutrition that is required, this process becomes diminished and can lead to further problems as we mature.
Carb counting is fine if you are an adult, but, be very careful not to let your extreme habits become part of your child's dieting routine. Remember, children look to adults to get their habits on dieting, and, if you practice extreme carb counting in front of your children, don't be surprised if they adopt similar views.
Carb counting can be a healthy alternative for adult dieting, but, don't let your practices get unhealthy. Not only will it affect your own body, but, if you have children, it can also lead to risky eating behaviors that may take a lifetime to get over.
